About the Role

• Core Focus: Development of embedded systems and firmware for unmanned aviation technology.
• Key Scope: C/C++ programming, STM32 and AVR microcontrollers, peripheral interface integration, Embedded Linux, and schematic comprehension.

SPE “Athlon Avia”, a full-cycle Ukrainian research and production enterprise and an industry leader in unmanned aerial systems (UAS), is seeking a skilled Embedded Engineer to join our engineering team as we scale our R&D capabilities and hardware platforms.

Candidate Qualifications & Technical Requirements

Essential Requirements:

• Programming Languages: High proficiency in C and C++.
• Microcontrollers: Hands-on firmware development experience with STM32 and AVR families.
• Peripheral Interfaces: Practical experience working with low-level hardware protocols (GPIO, UART, I2C, SPI, CAN).
• Operating Systems: Solid understanding of embedded OS architectures and experience developing for Embedded Linux or similar real-time platforms.
• Hardware Literacy: Strong schematic reading comprehension and understanding of basic circuit design principles.
• Documentation: Proven ability to author and maintain clear technical engineering documentation.

Nice to Have:

• Knowledge of the Ada programming language.
• Experience with MSP430 and RL78 microcontroller families.
• Experience integrating radio modems and wireless communications.
• Practical work with Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) and navigation sensors.
• Experience with autopilot systems and flight controllers.
• Exposure to FPGA development.

Key Technical Competencies:

• Basic knowledge of Python or scripting languages for rapid prototyping and automated testing.
• Practical skills in circuit analysis and schematic drafting.
• Version control proficiency using Git.
• Advanced knowledge of Embedded Linux environments.
